Shoes

I go through this phase of having to find the ultimate pair of running shoes. Tell me I’m not the only one? I’ve gotten a little better at it though and thought you would like to follow me through this process.
In the past I would get the ‘new shoe itch’ and just randomly go buy a new pair that looks cool. Well, time after time, this has proven to be a bad decision. It usually ends with several miles placed on my new shoes, which in turn cause me arch pain, knee instability, or bleeding toe nails. I then go buy my old faithful Asics and carry on.

Two great gifts!

The usage of Christmas gifts is in full effect. I took some time off from blogging, simply because I was overwhelmed with the day to day routine. When I had time to sit down and pour out my thoughts on the computer, sleep over ruled that decision, every time. This happened day after day for a couple of weeks around the holidays. Along with no blogging came little to no exercising, no workouts.

The good news it was short lived and I’m Back!

Hi!!

So what's the plan?

So whats the plan?
Now that I’ve seem to have my groove back, what’s the plan moving forward? Glad you asked. I have created a Boston attempt #1 folder and here’s what’s inside.

Fixing it up

The joys of being a home owner...So far that statement is completely accurate. We have been very fortunate for the past two years of our Platinum Drive home to not have had ANY major issues. No emergency repairs. We once had a leaking sump pump pipe in the yard which was pretty easy to repair by ourselves and so far has held up, and an over flow of the bath tub with water stains on the ceiling, but that's about it.

When we moved in it was just about perfect. The previous owners had very similar taste to us so we didn't do anything to change it.

Over the summer we were walking into the mud/laundry room from the garage. All 4 of us crammed into such a small space. Elbows flying, toes stepped on, children shouting, "she pushed me!," shoes and coats spread across the breakfast room for weeks. And THAT's IT I'M DONE! This has got to change. We had a Saturday free and I glanced at Phil and said, lets get rid of that awful closet in the mudroom. I envisioned a bench for the girls to sit and put on their shoes, baskets to hold their shoes, coat hooks on the wall, baskets for hats and gloves and most of all more space when we walk in the door.

So we got started

Just go

How is it the middle of January already?

I'm not sure what happened. One day its like this the next its like spring. I have been doing alot of relaxing lately and a lot less running and strength training. Is this good or bad you ask? Well, I'm not sure yet but I'll let you know very soon. I sat down with a good ol' fashioned piece of paper and a calender to set up my marathon training plan today and suddenly felt an enormous amount of anxiety. I will definitely do one speed work, one tempo run, one long run and one strength training per week. I've come to embrace the necessity of becoming stronger. Creating a plan in pen and paper makes it much more palatable for me.

I had some time off in my bank at work and since its been slow and 'you better use it or lose it' i decided to do the former. I took some days off and was dedicating my time to getting back into the running rhythm. Lets just say my plans fell through. I enjoyed my time with the girls and REALLY did not want to run AT ALL. So, I didn't. Ok, just once. It was a disaster with a happy ending. We took down the Christmas tree and as Phil dragged it to the curb he forced me to go outside 'even if its just for one mile-go run!' I felt the guilt and so I did. I promised the girls I'd be back to get them and we could run around the block together when I was finished. Pretty view, right?

A Long pause

It's super cold out today, so it only seems natural that I cancel my run and eat a bowl of ice cream....This is how my life has been lately and it's pretty great. Marathon training doesn't start until mid February so I can slack just a couple more times.
